What does Xtreme Arena. stand for?
Xtreme Arena is the "ladder" for Xtreme-Gamer.com

What does Xtreme Arena do and what is it for?
Xtreme Arena is similar in concept  to what is often referred to as a "ladder system" for wargames. The system tracks game reports which are submitted by players. This information is used to keep detailed statistical information on each scenario as well as to rank players according to how well and how frequently they play. The primary purpose of Xtreme Arena is to help players find a suitable opponent, but it also serves as a useful tool to track the balance of individual scenarios. The more reports that are submitted to the system, the more accurate and useful the balance information will become.

Who does Xtreme Arena belong to?
Xtreme Arena is the official ladder system of the Xtreme-Gamer wargaming club.

Who can submit game reports?
Any registered member of the Xtreme-Gamer forums is able to join individual "ladders" within the Xtreme Arena system. Once registered for the forum, members need only visit the Xtreme Arena Control Center to start posting game reports.

Can I post a game report in a single player game?
Xtreme Arena is not intended to track data for single player games, it is meant as a utility to assist with multiplayer, face-to-face and PBEM games.

What if my opponent is not a member of Xtreme-Gamer and Xtreme Arena?
Both players must be member in able for you to submit your endgame report. If your current opponent is not a member, encourage them to sign up.

I have reported endgames to other online ladder systems in the past. May I transfer over all my old endgame reports from this other site?
As a general rule, no. Xtreme-Gamer staff members may authorize this under very special circumstances, but it is very rare. You may, however, submit endgames that you completed within the last 10 days.

I don't see my wargame listed. Can I still submit an endgame report?
Xtreme Arena is the official ladder system for club Xtreme-Gamer. The club supports only those wargames that a significant number of members have expressed interest in. Over time, new wargames are added to the system and eventually older ones may be removed. If your wargame is not listed you can't submit a report for it. You are free to post about this wargame on the Xtreme-Gamer forums and attempt to generate interest in it. If there is sufficient interest it may eventually get added.

Xtreme Arena has a lot of good data, but it is missing a statistic that I would like to see. What can I do?
Xtreme Arena will continue to grow and evolve over time. The best thing you can do is post your suggestions on the appropriate Xtreme-Gamer sub-forum. User feedback is an invaluable tool for improving the system.

How do usernames work on Xtreme Arena?
The Xtreme Arena system is integrated into the Xtreme-Gamer discussion forums. Unlike the old Xtreme-Gamer ladder system which required multiple registrations and frustrating updates, Xtreme Arena gets its player information from the forum database. When you update your information on the forum, the Xtreme Arena system is automatically updated as well. This gives players one convenient location to update email addresses, avatars, etc.

I am listed twice on the system. Once on Xtreme Arena and once on the forum with a different username. What should I do?
Contact the Xtreme-Gamer staff with details of the problem. Please be sure to give us all the appropriate information. We will need both usernames, your current email, and be sure to tell us which username you would like to keep. After reviewing your information, we will combine your information into a single account.

How does the rank system work?
Your rank is based off the number of points you received for a game report. The more points you accumulate, the higher your rank. Keep in mind that these points are kept separate for different wargames, thus it is possible to be a Staff Sergeant on one ladder and a Corporal on another.

How many points will I receive for a game?
That depends on many factors. Different wargames track victory using different victory conditions. You will receive points based on factors such as the length of the scenario, the victory level, and whether you won or lost. It varies from game to game. See the included tables for more information on how individual wargames are scored.

How long will my game reports be listed on Xtreme Arena?
Forever. Game reports do not drop off after any specified period of time. Even if you are inactive for a long period of time, you may come back later and resume where you left off. That's why it's important to keep track of your username and password.

The system looks complicated. How do I use it?
Take your time and play with the different search options on the Xtreme Arena Control Panel. This is a powerful interface and it can be used to search for listing in all sorts of different ways. Once you get used to it, it's quite simple to generate the report you want to see.

I just played a scenario, but I don't see it listed. What should I do?
Use the utility built into Xtreme Arena to submit a new scenario to the database. Although most scenarios are listed, new ones are always popping up. After being reviewed by a Xtreme-Gamer staff member, your scenario will be added to the database.

I forgot my username and password, what can I do?
The VBulletin forum has a built-in utility to send you your password info in case you forget it. It will send it to the email address you have listed on the system. If you have tried this and are still experiencing problems, contact the Xtreme-Gamer staff. Please be sure to give us all your details so that we can track down your account and get it updated.

Who pays for Xtreme Arena?
Xtreme Arena is provided as a courtesy to members of Xtreme-Gamer. There are no fees or registration costs. If you feel inclined to help support the club, you may do so here.

I submitted an incorrect game report, what can I do?
Contact the appropriate Xtreme-Gamer staff member for your wargame. Explain the error and provide us with the appropriate information. Please be specific!

How can I get an avatar (user image) on the Xtreme Arena system?
Xtreme Arena uses the same avatar you have selected for the Xtreme-Gamer forum. To select an avatar, go into your User CP, then select Edit Avatar. There is a dropdown list will avatars from many different nations and time periods.

Rating System

A Player is rated by the number of games he has played and his victory percentage. If this is your first game report for a ladder, you are considered "unrated".

Rating System
ImageRatingGame Reports NeededRequired Victory %
Elite (7)8>=75
Crack (6)5>=65
Veteran (5)3>=50
Regular (4)1>=35
Green (3)3>=20
Conscript (2)5>=10
Cannon Fodder (1)8<10

If you WIN against a higher rated opponent, you are awarded bonus points! The bonus points are equal to the number of ladder points you would have earned for the game times the difference between your opponent's rating value and your rating value times 10 percent. (If a player is unrated, his rating value is 4 for determining any bonus.)

For example, given this situation

  • Player 1 is the winner
  • Player 1 would normally be awarded 50 ladder points
  • Player 1 is rated Regular (4); Player 2 is Elite (7)
  • Player 1 will be awarded bonus points!
The bonus points = 50 x (7-4) x 10% = 50 x 3 x 10% = 15 bonus points.

In all, Player1 will receive 65 ladder points for the game (50 + 15).

The number of points (from above) is multipied by the scenario complexity to arrive at the final number of points for that battle.

What is the scenario complexity?
  1. Number of turns (from the scenario briefing) multiplied by the number of units in the scenario
  2. We then take the cube root of this number and divide by 20
Here is an example:
  • Scenario - Lodz 1914
  • (24 turns)*(430 units) = 10320
  • (cubic root of 10320)/20 = 1.09
So, if a game of Lodz 1914 is played for 19 turns, the total point value for that battle would be 48 x 1.09 = 52. If played for 22 turns, the point value would be 65 (60 x 1.09).

By contrast, the complexity factor for Europe Aflame is 4.53. So, a 19 turn game of EA would be worth 48 x 4.53 = 217 total ladder points! (Special thanks to Legun for this formula!)
