Beyond Panzer Tactics
Hey I clearly want that one when it is released, but, can anyone comment on existing or reported in production games that are at least similar ie a wargamer would play it?
I don't get into the mainstream world of non wargaming info sources much, so I would be totally out of my element.
I'm open to games that are older system that runs on the DS as well.

The DS seems to be lacking in terms of in-depth strategy/war-gaming - theres a few titles currently released that might fit the bill ('Age of Empires: The Age of Kings' and 'Advance Wars' come to mind) and a few to look out for next year ('Front Mission 1st', 'Steel Horizons' and 'Settlers II' and the aforemention 'Panzer Tactics'). It's kind of disapointing really, considering how much more suited the DS's control method is to strategy gaming - i'd really love to see some Sierra city building games like 'Pharoah' or 'Zues' on the DS, but I guess i'll have to make do with Settlers.

Saw Age of Empires on the shelf today actually, and think it is now on my list.
Always thought that was a real time game, nice to see it uses turns on the DS though.
I think though, until 2007 expires, I won't be thinking there is nothing coming for the DS, its still a new item.
I am amused though that it can play Gameboy Advance cartridges, whole bundle of titles to squeese out of that selection as well.

I bought Age of Empires when it came out actually, and it was pretty good. It was kind of simplistic, but it was still fun to play and set you in various conflicts throughout history.
Advance Wars also is worth checking out, even though it's not as realistic, it's generally considered one of the better DS games there is.

Looking over some of the screenshots Beyond Panzer Tactics kind of reminds me of Panzer General.

This one *may* prompt me to buy a DS. I've already had one, sold it due to complete lack of interest. I have one of the newer (brighter screen) SPs, but couldn't actually tell you where it is even with a gun to my head. My PSP exists solely for those nocturnal, pre-sleep moments of Lumines, but I've found lately that reading wargame rules will have the same soporific effect.
Now...about that SP...where the hell could it be???

Beyond Panzer Tactics
Love this game. Some people thought it wasnt good enough but I really like it. I like how much more balanced it is than the origional tactics.
