I'm have high hopes for this RTS/MMO hybrid because I'm all for any developer that tries to inject some innovation into the MMO genre instead of just pumping out another cheap WoW clone.

"I have always known about man. From the evidence, I believe his wisdom must walk hand and hand with his idiocy. His emotions must rule his brain. He must be a warlike creature who gives battle to everything around him, even himself." - Dr. Zaius
Me, too! The only thing that makes me a bit pessimistic about this game is the same "flaw" as World of Tanks: no infantry!!!!They probably will add inf in with an expansion, as with WoT, but until then the battlefield will seem lifeless.

I can understand WoT, but for End of Nations, it seems ridiculous! I don't understand why they did that but my guess has something to do with instant gratification but that's just my opinion. WoT is just too arcadey and the games are rather fast from the few I played. If they enlarged the maps (I only played 2 although it appears there's more) so that it'd take time to cross and then engage, infantry would make a great addition, and I already have an idea for how they can be implemented. Not that hard. And I don't see why infantry are "hard to balance." I just believe that's lazy programming on the part of the devs. But who am I to say that!

Yeah I agreed with many people's opinion's in that thread haha. The more I think about the game and it's "background," the more I expect someone to make one of those "this is how it should have ended" videos one sees on youtube.

My concern is that we push too far into the uncanny valley and games get so realistic you can't tell targets from background. Maybe 3D monitors will change things but with a 2D screen no matter how big and what the resolution, it's always going to be a challenge - you just can't making things "look real" and proclaim that they "are real." The human brain and senses just don't work the same way in two dimensions as they do in three.
The devs listened! We have INFANTRY!!!!! Way to go, Petroglyph!

Another good vid with lots of info here:
After seeing this vid, I have to admit that my excitement factor went up a few notches. It looks like it is going to be fun, old school RTS gaming set in a MMO environ.

Not much new in this update, but I did find some of the graphics from the game that appear in this vid to be quite impressive. I just hope that there is some sort of replay option where we'll be able to capture a vid of a session and replay it at our leisure and enjoy all the little details.
Another thing: I've been lamenting that there isn't a PC game experience that successfully captures the miniatures essence. I am starting to think that maybe this game will do so. It certainly seems like they have the whole army builder thing down pat. And you will even be able to customize your units!
EoN is near the top of my 2012 list.
