WiF - Where to Start?

Hi everyone!

My name is Chris and I have a copy of WiF Deluxe - Final Edition. My question as someone who has never played WiF is where is a good place to learn this beast? Is there a introductory scenario? Do I need to read the entire rule book prior to play? Are there any aids for beginners? If so, where can I find them.

I don't have a lot of advice to give as I'm still learning WiF the hard way also. However, Yahoo has a very active WiF User Group. It seems to be the online hangout for WiF discussion. Perhaps, it could be helpful.

Hi Chris ive been playing WiFlames since 1988' and i also learned the hard way along with people who also didnt know the rules as it was a newer game then, but i would read most of the rule book before playing dont pay too much attention to the naval or air rules at first try to master movement and supply and the way the phases of the turn break down, as other have said there are great discussion groups now for WIF and the european map scenario would be a smaller less naval rules and less nations to worry about. And once you learn it then you can play it with DoD3 and it becomes one of the best Corps level multi player game ever made. I still play every other saturday so if you have any questions that the discussion groups or reading of the rules wont solve feel free to ask me

DoD3 is "Days of Decision 3" it is the political and early war expansion for World in Flames. Represents all of the main minor countries on a spherical political map containing the democrat, communist & Fascist camps. Economic deals, treaties, early Declarations of war, couping goverments, and alot more make World in Flames vary from the vanilla WW2 strategies, it starts in january 1936 before Germany takes Rhineland and before Japan attacks China, so anything is possible, but i wouldnt play DoD3 until you have played "vanilla" World in flames a few times

Thanks for the info! I don't see any mention of that in my copy of WiF Final Edition. Did this get developed 'unofficially'? after 2000/2001?

Days of Decision is an "official" but seperate ADG (australian design group) game made specifically for World in flames, DoD 1 was produced in the late 80's or early 90's and days of decision 2 was made in mid to late 90's and now DoD3 was made a few years ago for the "final" edition of world in flames. Follow this link for more info about ADG games, they do have distributors in the US and europe also.
