    Exclamation [ASL.NET] WW I is back !

    Hello everyone,

we polished the dust of the variant rules found on the Cote1664.net site (by Dogan Ogreten) and prepared them for you!
Check out http://www.advancedsquadleader.net/i...at_War_1914-18 for the changed rules and play two interesting scenarios (Breakout and The Fox's First Bite). These are (chronologically) the first two scenarios of ASL!

Download also the VASL mdx for the new counters! VASL Setups are also provided...

AAR's or comments are very much appreciated and can be mailed to admin@advancedsquadleader.net, posted here or uploaded to our site!

Stay tuned for more downloadable scenarios!

Almost. David Haasl's "First Sting" takes place 4 Nov. 1914 in Tanga so therefore comes between those two.

    You're right! A bit to over-enthousiastic I guess :-)

But I haven't found any info on the Haasl scenarios... hope you can!

It's an old Coastal Fortress scenario.
Tanga, German East Africa, 4 Nov. 1914
    Germans set up first
    British move first
    Played on boards 42 & 40
    6 turns
infantry vs infantry, except Germans have 2 MMG and are entrenched

Did anyone actually play First Sting? I mean other then me and my play test opponents?

Heh. Well it's gratifying that some people at least noticed it. The copy from Coastal Fortress is only a play test version - although it seemed to play ok in practice. I didn't add additional Great War SSR, but instead tried to simulate pre-Squad command and control with poor ELR and low numbers of leaders. And ultimately the whole exercise was so I could add rules for bee attacks. That's right bees. Apparently they were significant during the event.

If you do play it - I'd appreciate feed back!
    Thanks

    Dave Haasl

And if you think I've exhausted scenario possibilities with funky animal SSRs - well there's also a small battle where a charging Rhino scattered both sides. Heh.

    Dave;

I've never played this scenario, but I did print it out years ago from the CF site...it has been on my "wish list" for some time. I gotta play it some day just to have the killer bees attack someone.

Please...develop the charging rhino scenario...sounds just as funny as the killer bees!

BTW...are you gonna make it down to WCM in February?

    Hi Scott
Glad you liked the killer bees.

I'd like to make it to WCM next year, but right now the odds are about 50-50. New job. New Kid. But we'll see. Here's hoping.

Please submit your AAR and playtest results!

And Dave, we're waiting for the stampede ;-)

Thank you for share this scenario. It seems very cool.

I think the coordinate instructions for British setup are incorrect. I believe the British should place "West" the river and not "North". Or perhaps is incorrect the orientation of the "North" counter.
I would also a clarification about the VC: is the victory instant (that is what I think) or must the British fullfill the VC at game end?
