    Draws: Too few?

I'm playing "It's About Time" from Pegasus Bridge (a Curt Schilling design, by the way), and because this one can end in a draw (surprising for a scenario by a pitcher) with neither side obtaining their objectives, I started wondering how many scenarios have a draw as a possiblity. Most specify one VC for one side, and if it's not met, there's a winner. Frankly, I like the draw---no one goes home cursing and it still feels satisfying, though of course it doesn't work for tournaments. I'd like to see more scenarios have them as a possibility. Or maybe I just haven't seen enough scenarios.

Anybody else like draws? Hate them?

I hate draws. Play for 4 or 6 hours for what? No winner or loser? Blah!

Children of the Kunai has a draw provision. I'm sure there are others.

I would prefer to not play a scenario with a draw possibility.

It's not soccer, where you have a whole season to balance things out against an entire league. With ASL it is just one game at a time. If there were an ASL League, well then, that might alter my opinion.

What could be interesting, would be degrees of victory, as they exist in other wargames.
If you are loosing, it can be a challenge not to let your opponent have a "crushing victory" and let him only get away with a "marginal victory".
I find that the win or loose ASL VCs lack subtelty: you cannot see the difference between a victory reaped two turns before the end of the scenario and a victory attained by the last CC DR.

I think you've got it exactly backwards. Draws send players home cursing and feeling very UNSATISFIED. Kind of like sex without an orgasm.

Or sex where both have an orgasm?

Same. Why not make the VC such that someone wins?

FWIW, in my data, there are 10 draws in 1452 games played.

But with 3 turns left you can bring in a reliever who gets the win.

SoS is a good use of a draw result. To be a definitive winner you must achieve both sets of VCs. It is something of a special case though.
