    SASL night rules

Anyone else tried night SASL? Two questions:

ENEMY unit rolls starshell method 3 (S12.871). This starshell method involves initially placing the starshell in a hex that is exatly 3 hexes from the firer. How do I choose this hex for the ENEMY? I've been just doing random direction dr and starting 3 hexes in that direction. If it is chosen because of newly activation, do you choose a hex closest to the activating unit?

12.8713 FRIENDLY Player Turn. This is for starshell placement for the friendly Mph. Here it references 6.11, which normally only occurs during ENEMY player turn. Does this mean I run through all the ENEMY units at the start of the FRIENDLY Mph and check for panic and starshell? The phrase "During determination of ENEMY actions (6.11)" has me confused. Also, if I do this, what do I do if I roll starshell placement 2 and there is no friendly unit (known or otherwise) in LOS.

I am unsure about your second question, but for the first question, as the player controlling the ENEMY, I would place the Starshell's in the hex I believed to be in the best interests of the ENEMY.

The SASL general rule (in spirit) is that if the specific SASL rules do not otherwise dictate an ENEMY action in a set of circumstances, then you take the most appropriate action in the interest of the ENEMY. In the case of initial placement of a starshell, and because every hex is critical in starshell placement, vis-a-vis creating a lighted or darkened area for the opponent (the FRIENDLY side) to move through or see into, you should place it in the hex which is obviously the most appropriate one, or in the case of multiple hexes of equal importance make a random dr.
