For King and Country

Just got my copy of For King and Country, after spending too much on Ebay, and as I was leafing through the scenarios, I found that none of the names seemed familiar, in other words I haven't seen them listed here for tournaments or anything else. Even Pitman's site, which usually has something to say about scenarios in a given module, is silent on those in FKaC. So what's the deal? Are these scenarios good, mediocre, balanced, classic? Does anyone play them?

Lots of good scenarios in that bunch... Point of the Sword, Guards Attack, Dreil Team ...

These scenarios are retreads from annuals and Genrerals.

You are either kidding or very new to ASL.

91 Ad Hoc at Beaurains (A40, Annual '92)
92 Stand Fast the Guards (A15, Annual '90)
93 Tavronitis Bridge (A1, Annual '89)
94 Bofors Bashing (A2, Annual '89)
95 Descent Into Hell (A3, Annual '89)
96 The Crux of Calais (A22, Annual '90)
97 A Desperate Affair (BB4, Backblast 1; G39, General 31-4)
98 On Silent Wings (A102, Annual '96)
99 Probing Layforce (A43, Annual '92)
100 Regalbuto Ridge (A24, Annual '90)
101 Throwing Down the Gauntlet (BB01, Backblast 1)
102 Point of the Sword (BB03, Backblast 1; G31 General 30-6)
103 A Day By the Shore (G22, General 29-4)
104 Hill of Death (G36, General 31-2)
105 Going to Church (BB05, Backblast 1; G35, General 31-2)
106 Kangaroo Hop (BB11, Backblast 2; G43, General 31-6)
107 Tettau's Attack (A33, Annual '91) # of playings 159
108 Guards Attack (A35, Annual '91) # of playings 58
109 Dreil Team (A37, Annual '91) # of playings 119
110 North Bank (A38, Annual '91) # of playings 157

Except for 101 all of these scenarios have seen quite a bit of play. The last four in particular show up at tournaments all of the time. I posted the numbers from ROAR, with probably represents < 1% of the total times these scenarios have been played.

All of these are considered classic scenarios again with the exception of 101, which I think was printed here to get it into play more (and I think it was the only BB scenario that hadn't been reprinted somewhere else).

Fairly new, and still figuring out what's what with scenarios. Looks like I've got quite a bit of good playing ahead of me...

I think this pack is 2nd to Para for best newbie type. I think I counted 50% of them do not use vehicles. Then the quasi Crete campaign grouping of scenario's throw in a section from chapter E that is not complicated to learn. It is good because it is not just one scenario with gliders, but multiple so you are not learing a section of rules for just one game.

These two are classic tournament games.

Can't go wrong with either one!

107-110 from Annual 91 were in the now famous series of seven Market Garden scenarios that you could play in a row and keep score who won / lost each scenario to gain points for the whole seven scenario campaign.

All seven were played to death in those early days. My first ever PBEM scenario was Tettau's Attack against Doc Pomerantz. I won't touch them now as I've played them so many times.

But, if you're a new player they are highly recommended.

* Are there any other 5 or 7 scenario series out there that can be linked together into a campaign? I'm surprised no one has done it for Red Barricades or on one of the KGP boards.

Yes, I played all of the highlighted ones (maybe more) and I play like 5 games a year. Of course it hasn't always been that way.
