Anyone played any (all?) of the 4 SASL missions for Red Barricades that appear in Journal 1.
I've got it out now, and am about to play the Russians in r1 Assault on the Assembly Hall.

Sorry, but I can't remember which it was I tried--R1 or R3; my memory is that it was not the most satisfying SASL mission I've done (I prefer campaigns or the RB CG) A few squads held off what seemed like overwhelming odds in maintaining Control of the building. This was years ago so I only have this impression--not any specific actions/DRs I can cite--and I was much less experienced with SASL so maybe today I'd 'fudge' things a little differently to give the Attacking SASL system a better chance. Today, if I'm going to SASL RB, I'll use the full CG. If you really want to try, however, by all means go for it!
I know SASL is different than playing with a real opponent, but sometimes it's hard for me to have fun if the SASL situation seems too "unrealistic"--I like being surprised by the system, say, but it's not fun mowing down 99 squads in "Human Wave".
There will be blood!
Hi Kris,
If you don't absolutely have your heart set on playing those Journal ones (the sheer number of units and length scared me off...haven't tried them yet), I have something else that's more lightweight that you might be into. It's still SASL and still RB....hasn't been playtested to death but was a total blast the times I did play it....

I've set this one up, and man, lots of ? counters!
Slightly different subject now...
I've found a "RB_Rules" pdf file on my hard drive - i wish i could credit who i got it from.
It is a SASL Red Barricades campaigne game. I guess i am asking for clarification. It reads like I can only play the Germans and the Soviets are S?.
It also reads like (mentioned a few times in the footnotes) that its scaled to be the size of "half a CG" game. Which for a (re)-starter like me, is probably a more manageable size.
PeterK - i have not looked at the file i downloaded from you yet, though i intend to.
That's the RB SASL that's available in the downloads section on here. It looks like it was left incomplete and never got submitted anywhere. I played 2 dates from it and then put it aside and did my own that used the whole map. Your mileage may vary....I think there's some pretty big holes in it as it stands.
Iit's not really all that small. It's extremely huge as well.
There is no SASL RB campaign in Journal 2....only missions.
There is an RB campaign game in Journal two but it's not SASL. There has been no RB SASL campaign published yet.
What about Journal 1 - i thought looking at it the other night there were 4 missions and also a RB CG?
It's not a SASL CG. It's a normal one for 2 players.
Does everone use the "PANIC" rules as they apply to FRIENDLY forces when playing SASL?
