Korsun Pocket questions

Well finally broke down and got a copy of this game, as I activated Matix Games TrueUpdate feature I was greeted with an 80 meg patch. As a dial-up user this is going to take 4-5 hours to download, I'm not sure that I will be able to do this in one download it may take several tries, so the questions are:

1 Do I really need this patch to enjoy the game?

2. Can TrueUpdate download this patch in portions? If not then:

3. Is there a site that I can download this patch using a DL manager such as Get Right?

Thank you for any help that you can provide.

Answering your questions in order:

1. Yes--you need the update (at least the largest one) to run the Dnepr add-on. There are also free add-ons available from the the maker's home site and most have a new version for the largest (second to last I believe) patch. So there have been some major improvements from this team known for the quality of its games.

2. I also have dial-up and it did not work for me. The patch was too large. With True Update it's all or nothing.

3. Game Spot has such a service that is very reliable, but limited as to content. When I last checked (which has been some time ago) they did not have the Korsun patches. I downloaded the CMAK demo with this service. That took 12 hours or so, but it is the only way I found that I could download something that large.

You can DL the patch manually from Matrix so Get Right should be an option.

Whether you use True Update or manually download the patch, the problem is the same: the patch is too large for dial-up. I tried both methods and was eqully unsuccessful.

Fortunately, my brother is in town and has high speed internet and I was able to get it from him.

But you didn't try Get Right? That was the question, not how big is it. Get Right will allow the large download to be broken into smaller ones.

I don't use it myself, but you should be able to find it just by entering "Get Right" into Google.

I too have dial up.

Did your try to update through the game program?
Or did you just go to matrix downloads through your browser?

I downloaded the patch just this weekend using the second method as I have not yet rcvd my copy of the game. I have also downloaded mega campaigns and Across the Dnper with no problems other then the time it takes.

Try the second method when you go to bed and hopefully you will be fine. Or if that does not work perhaps someone can burn it for you.

I'm currently using Download Accelerator Plus, which is like Get Right a download manager. This is a program that will save a download so that should the download be interupted you can resuime the download from the point of interuption. These programs are lifesavers for us dial-up types. Thanks for the info John I'll check the Matrix site again. Thanks Michael but if I can DL the patch with DAP then that should do it.
