Ah where to begin....Lumines has the feel of tetris without the different shaped pieces. You have blocks of four, that are randomized with 2 different colors. The idea is to try to make and create combos with blocks of the same color. More combos created, the more points awarded. The backgrounds and music change based on the level that you reach. Lumines is easy to learn but hard to master. You'll be excited the first time you break 50,000 and then you'll go and break that only to be excited again when you break 100,000. This pattern continues, giving you endless hours of competion against yourself. Although if you dont want to play with yourself () you can always use the Wireless function to compete against one of your friends head to head. The object is to push the center line as far as you can into your enemies area, thus giving them less area to complete their blocks, and the game is over when you hit the top of the playing field. The game also keeps track of all wins and losses from your "battles" with your friends which is nice to see how you've progressed against them. You may also play to the 2-player "battle" against the CPU. When you move onto a new skin, in single player and VS CPU, you will recieve that skins which you may return to and play as a single skin, which keeps the skins from changing. There are also Time Trials in which you have to complete a certain number of blocks within a time limit which reward you with new Character Icons, another cool feature. When you start your profile, you are asked to pick a character that represents you. You may change them with anyone you wish that you have won.
Overall Rating: 9.4
Reason: Great game, endless hours of fun, but one thing I didnt like was the unablity to save your highscores in Single Skin Mode.
