    III or IV?

After a month playing Oblivion, I must said I'm dissapointed... if I compared it to Morrowind.
Maybe if a wouldn't have played Morrowind prior to Oblivion, my opinion would be different. But the fact is that I don't "feel" the game, I can't dive in it.
I must say Morrowind is in my top 5 games ever. Morrowind grab me inmediately from the very first time I played it. I've never played Arena or Daggerfall, and maybe that's is also a reason to love Morrowind.

I find Morrowind deeper, wider and more convincing. It has more spells (althought I'm not a magic fan), more guilds, more topics and more uncertainty. In Morrowind you need to search for a location following clues and landmarks, with no map references at all, not like the pseudo exploration featured in Oblivion.

In Morrowind is easier to screw a quest up, basically because you have more choices, and thus, you must be more carefull.
It seems to me that Oblivion is more like a one way stream script quests.

Has anyone the same feeling as me? Don't get me wrong, Oblivion is a great game, beautiful graphics and all that, but it lacks of "atmosphere".

    My choice: part III

I like Oblivion; after heavy modding; but I too am a bit disappointed. It is just continuing the very disturbing process of consolization that started with Morrowind. I could never come to like Morrowind for some reason. I guess I prefer a more more classical high fantasy setting. Daggerfall was the last really good Bethesda rpg that I have played and that thing was buggy as all hell at release. I don't expect I will ever have the desire to play an Elder Scrolls game again. Old school rpgs are simply a thing of the past I am afraid.

I think they're both good games, but Morrowind is a MUCH better RPG for exactly the reasons you state.

Oblivion is really simple compared to Morrowind.

Fun, beautiful, but doesn't deserved to even be in the same class as a game like Morrowind.

you make some good points, i also think Morrowind is a better RPG. i would go back to Morrowind if it wasnt for the combat in Oblivion among some other things. it would have been nice if the game didnt have that ported feel to it.

I haven't played morrowwind but find oblivion excellent.
'm still in the early stages now but am intereste to see how things pan out.
Is it worth taking a step back and trying morrowind on the PC?
What do we want? Time travel! When do we want it? It's irrelevant!

morrowind is very cool, but, you will find some things very different, so i would say wait till you have finished playing oblivion. then, if you are looking for more, go and find the gold edition that includes the two expansions.

Oh? Do tell us why, please... I haven't played either yet, and wouldn't rule out trying Morrowind before Oblivion.

I liked oblivion better than morrowind because oblivion has so many little features that make a BIG difference over morrowind. Oblivion has a workable map system, smarter life cycle A.I., an incredibly deep combat system, improved menu system, and exellent expansions. I would reccomend them both though.

    Hope this helps,
