Bet you haven't seen THIS before!

Okay...Campaign for South Viet Nam. I've got the VC, and it successfully attacks a village with an airfield, displacing the three air groups into an adjacent airfield.

I decide to split my VC battalion into thirds, and move one of these VC companies into the next airfield. So, the three airgroups bounce to the third airfield (also adjacent). With two companies in the original village, I move one of them into that third airfield. So, now they pounce onto the last company still sitting in the village, evapping it. And there they remain, despite the village remaining under the ownership of the VC!

I return the VC companies to the village, and the planes remain. I can see their equipment and statistics, bring them up in the Group Composition, as in the attached picture. They don't show up in my inventory, unfortunately.

But, here's the really cool thing - I can't do anything with them...EXCEPT perform an airstrike on the airfield they occupy! So, basically, the VC captured three airgroups of American jets, they can't fly them, but they can blow themselves up trying!

    Groovy...

    haha, nice...

Another The Clash song in than name

    (Strummer/Jones)

Tommy gun – you ain’t happy ‘less he got one
Tommy gun – ain’t gonna shoot the place up just for fun
Maybe he wants to die for the money
Maybe he wants to kill for his country
Whatever he wants, he’s gonna get it

Tommy gun – you better strip down for a custom run
Tommy gun – waiting at the airport ‘till Kingdom Come
An’ we can watch you make it on the nine o’clock news
Standing there in Palestine lighting a fuse
Whatever you want, you’re gonna get it

    Tommy gun
    Tommy gun

Tommy gun – a-you’ll be dead when you war is won
Tommy gun – but did you have to gun down everyone?
I can see its kill or be killed
A nation of destiny has got to be fulfilled
Whatever you want, you’re gonna get it

Tommy gun – a-you can be hero in an age of none
Tommy gun – I’m cutting out your picture from page one
I’m gonna a get a jacket just like yours
An’ give my false support to your cause
Whatever you want, you’re gonna get it
    All right!

Okay, so let’s agree about the price
An’ make it one jet airliner for ten prisoners
And boats and tanks and planes, it's your game
Kinds and Queens and Generals, learn your name
I see the innocents, the human sacrifice
And if death comes so cheap, then the same goes for life

Guerilla-typed units can mix in strange ways with enemy helicopters and planes. Don't you get control over your opponent's whole force when selecting one of the air units per chance?

Oh yea, we say that happen in one of JL's scenarios. But wasn't it a special forces unit?

No, the only option available in selecting those planes was to bomb the airfield they were on. Now, with special forces - I can see the option of being able to fly and bomb a different airbase as possible.

It would be very cool if we could actual capture enemy equipment, brings up a whole list of programming issues and maybe not realistic, but it would be cool...

Doesn't that happen because the units don't actually take control of the hex until the housekeeping phase?
Beware the return of giant insects...
