    Red Shift

Having said that 4X sci-fi gaming might be stuck in neutral, here is a refreshing 4X sci-fi game idea that reminds most of Hearts of Iron, but it space (space...space...space):

Space Sector has a brief interview with the dev:

This is one kickstarter project I think I will back. I just hope the dev takes the criticisms found in that other article to heart.

My interview with the dev is now posted:

The game sounds like it is going to be good! Here's a recent vid of an early build of the combat engine:

Elliott Hill remarked on his future plans for it:

One of the things I'm working on right now is the movement of the ships, at the moment they move in straight lines toward each other, but I would like some kind of Newtonian physics system for movement. The main weapons are missiles and guns
In my interview he also said:

The battles do tend to take place at large distances, sometimes BVR, when placed too closed together in a battle, opposing ships tend to rip each other apart in seconds which is fun to watch. The skirmishes in Red Shift will be centered around ships slugging each other with projectiles and missiles at ultra long range, and small ships and drones trying to get “under” the guns and up close. I’m planning massive changes to the skirmish system, it’s an area that’s had such little development time compared to the rest of the game. Each ships has a lot of information about its capabilities, Sensors, mm Armor thickness, ECCM, Projectile size but it’s not being used by the skirmish system yet, its basically just uses a prototype “health” system.
