A10.41 Is Voluntary break in LOS and normal range of a SW allowed?

A10.41 uses the phrase “within both the LOS and Normal Range per 10.532 of an armed, unbroken Known enemy ground.”

A10.5 uses the phrase “in the Normal Range (10.532) and LOS of a Known non-Melee enemy unit/its-SW/Gun”

Does the omission of “SW/Gun” in A10.41 mean that in order to voluntarily break a unit has to be in normal range of a ground unit's inherent fire-power or would being in normal range of a SW/Gun allow voluntary break as well?

Normal Range in this instance is defined by A10.532, i.e. the Normal Range of the unit or any SW/Gun it possess at a range of <= 16 hexes. -- jim

The rule for voluntary break refers to the “normal range” of a ground unit – it does not mention SW/Guns. It refers to A10.532 but this rule just confirms that SWs and Guns have a “Normal Range”. I do not think it defines normal range, this is defined in A1.22. The question is whether the omission of “SW/Guns” from A10.41 is an oversight or deliberate, bearing in mind that the very next rule actually includes “SW/Gun” when referring to normal range and this rule also refers to A10.532?

A10.5 says "in the Normal Range (10.532)". This tells you "Normal Range" for the purposes of Voluntary Break is defined in A10.532, and there it is pretty clear that SW/Guns applies, so it also applies to Vol Break. At least that's how I read it. -- jim

Last sentence of A10.532 = Naturally, in order for a SW or ordnance to Interdict a rout hex, that weapon must be functioning.

Does that clarify the issue? Of course, that sentence should probably read "...must be manned and functioning."

Original in indigo, proposed amendment in maroon.

    About this same question.

Is an existing FFE or SR in LOS considered an enemy weapon? Any range?.. Is an observed radio?

Even if they are weapons (which I don't believe they are), they have no normal range. Besides, didn't Sarge say to keep your head in your hole when you're being shelled? All that running around will do is get you killed.
