Really? I wasn't aware of that. Strange, I wouldn't expect a TB game to do well on a console.

Yeah many where moaning it will be dumbed down for the console crowd. I don't hold with that belief. My first XCOM game was on the PS1.

    New preview:

XCOM -- Designing a Game for Two Audiences

I am hoping that this game does really well and proves to be a bona fide financial hit because it could dispel that myth that turn-based games are strictly "niche". Being a cross-platform title it could even prove that the console twitch crowd is just as open to a polished TB game as the PC crowd. In other words, XCOM could be a game changer (if you'll pardon the pun ).

Couldn't agree more. However now with Kickstarter we have a new way to get those great genres remade even if the big boys don't have faith. However both Mr Fargo and the Psychonuats developers will have to deliver.

Destructible terrain and 3D environments is hard to do.

For a real game programmer its not hard at all.
Games have been a team effort for at least 10 years now.
I have single handedly programmed games 20 years before that.
And Yes my programming cycle was 1 game every 2 years.
By the time I realized that I needed a team effort and a single
programmer doing all the coding and play testing it was too late.
