The small image that appears within in each member's posts is called an avatar. These images are displayed just beneath the user title and help make each member more identifiable on the forums. Avatars fall into two categories: standard avatars and custom avatars. There are over 2,000 standard avatars provided for use on the site, and these are available for use by all members.
I'm not an artist. Can I get help creating an avatar?
If you need help resizing an image for use as an avatar, visit this site to resize any image in 3 easy steps. If you need help with an avatar design or need an avatar created from scratch, you can get help from members with artistic skills on the Art Forums.
Where do I edit my avatar?
To select an avatar, visit the "User CP" link, then click on the "Edit Avatar" link. Custom avatars are uploaded from the user's computer.
Are there any limitations on avatars?
Yes. The preferred specification for custom avatars is 100 x 100 pixels in .jpg format, but .gif images can also be used. Avatars not conforming to this specification are subject to deletion or modification. Custom avatars deemed to be obscene or offensive will be removed by the mods.
The default list of user titles is shown below. Starting with the rank of Forum Conscript, users can elect to replace the default user title with a custom title of their own creation. This can be edited in the user's profile.
All registered members receive a promotion once they reach a postcount of 25. Users must also have positive reputation to receive the promotion. This promotion is automatic and grants the user additional forum privileges, such as the ability to upload a custom avatar.
