Have you ever wanted to control NASA’s Mars Curiosity Rover from the comfort of your own living room? Well, now Bohemia Interactive is making it possible to explore the terrain of the Martian surface in the new Windows PC video game Take on Mars. The object of the game is to build your own rovers and landers, then set off to explore the Red Planet. The exploration simulator allows players to accept missions; analyze rocks, soil, and atmosphere; and assess whether or not radiation hazards are suitable for future human colonization. Players also have the ability to study the chemical makeup of the Red Planet to see if it is satisfactory to develop and harbor life.

...

Take on Mars is also highly moddable, so you can create your own missions, rovers, and landers. Bohemia Interactive is making it really easy to make Take on Mars a never-ending campaign for anyone who wishes to explore further than the game’s out-of-the-box limitations.

Take on Mars will be released this July, and Bohemia Interactive will also have free downloads to expand the game to explore the moons of Mars too.

What a lackluster line-up. For me, the only two exciting titles are Watch_Dogs - which is a holdover from last year's E3 - and Titanfall (which CVG thinks might bring "big changes" to the FPS formula). Other than that, we really just had a number of sequels announced - such as BF4 and CoD: Ghosts - that only bring incremental changes to the table.

If this isn't a sign that gaming is really in some dire straits, I don't know what is.

It appears the console companies are engaged in a furiously competitive race to the bottom to see who can be the first to self-destruct. Microsoft is currently ahead by a nose and pulling away.

It's pretty well known I've been very unhappy with the general direction of gaming over the last three to four years, especially with the trends in PC gaming. It seems every time you turn around some big company is destroying another classic title or tromping all over the rights of gamers (if such a thing even still exists). However, compared to the utter stupidity that seems to have taken over the console market, the PC gaming scene is looking better and better.

Sadly, that isn't really saying much.

So about... 30 minutes ago I was talking with my girlfriend and I got a sudden urge to search Youtube for videos of a game I used to play when I was very young called Goosebumps: Escape from Horrorland where you are a young kid who's friends get trapped in this alternate world/universe thing and it's your job to rescue them while also trying to dodge a wherewolf. It was a classic adventure that was and still surprisingly atmospheric and quite a bit of fun!

But I'm not the only one who reminiscences about the early games that brings back fond memories. If you have games that you played long ago that bring back fond memories (preferably before 2000), post them here along with Youtube videos or pictures if you can.

So without further ado, here is an 8 minute clip showing Goosebumps: Escape from Horrorland. This is the first horror game I played and it successfully scared me, my brother, and our close friend out quite a bit and even got us to jump a few times. And me and my brother's first game we remember was Doom II. It had a great mix of props, graphics, sound, and live acting that really meshed and made it very entertaining.

Opening Cutscene:

Hey guys! I've been coding a space sim and rts hybrid - the idea is that you can pilot ships like in a space sim and command them like in a real time strategy. I hope that this gives you the player a unique experience.

Its been a long time coming and we are finally here, a stage (late alpha) where I feel comfortable enough to run a Kickstarter and Greenlight campaigns.

Kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...void-destroyer

Thank you for checking these campaigns out.

Please help spread the word to anyone who might be interested.

Here is the first "Official Trailer":
If I have to look at one more "hacking" game, or hacking mode in a game (I'm looking at you, Deus Ex:HR) that bears no resemblance to real world hacking, I will SCREAM! :freak: I mean, based on games like this, I could call chess a "hacking game"! Deep campaign mode. The actions of the player directly affect the balance of power on the system. There is one main objective to achieve, but there’s much more to do.

Customizable Battlecruiser. The Battlecruiser serves as the base of operations, and can be customized with weapons or infrastructures that will boost the squad numbers, teleport soldiers or even bombard the battlefield.

Faction relations. There are a number of neutral minor factions in the game. These factions will have missions available for contract work. When the player completes missions for a certain faction, the relations will improve with that faction. On the other hand, completing missions against a faction will lower the relations with it. Having good relations allows the player to train or buy units unique to that faction. Having bad relations will make that faction randomly attack the player during missions.

Upgradeable and unique (per class) skill tree for all units.

Different unit classes with specialized roles: Recon, Tactical, Assault, Support, Engineer. Each class can carry a different set of weapons and has its own abilities. Powerful mechs can enter the battlefield with salvaged or bought equipment and weapons.
