The 1st RPG...

Today I continued with my character in the first RPG I have ever seriously played.
A week or two ago I found a great deal on Mount & Blade and picked it up. I was very much addicted the first couple of days and this is actually my third character. The first two I wrote off to exploring the game but made a pact with myself that no matter what happens with this character that I will not start over. Below is where that character is at so far:
I have to say this game has been alot of fun. Nothing beats the combat; it’s like an FPS but with swords. I do mounted combat sometimes but lately I've been on a kick where I like to dismount and lead my ground troops in front by foot.
I think one of the reasons this is the first RPG I've seriously played is because alot of the other ones on the market that I am aware of have to much of a fantasy element. I don't know why but I have never been a fan of alot of fantasy. LOTR being the exception that comes to mind, however, there was alot more actual physical combat in comparison. This makes me think that it has more to do with the magic element than actually fantasy setting or characters. I have no problem with the orcs, elves, dwarfs etc. but once you add the magic element to combat I tend to lose interest. And no in case you are wondering I have not tried the LOTR MMORPG. It has just never struck me as something I would like to invest the time in. But I digress….
Mount & Blade is a blast especially after being given my own town to run. I can't wait until I am given my own castle to defend. Also figuring out the combination of weapons has been interesting and something I am still experimenting with. You have four slots of weapons and right now I am carrying a one handed sword, glaive, shield and throwing knives. The throwing knives will be replaced with javelins as soon as I upgrade my throwing power. But for now I must return to my virtual field of battle and fight!
