And back at it after a minor hiatus due to other commitments. After a minor hiatus, progress is being made again. There are seven playtests on the go; six for Middle East, one for Vietnam. I'll start an AAR of one of the playtests and make it available over on the Matrix Forums. The playtests of the Middle East scenarios have resulted in a few tweaks of Victory conditions. The scenario set for Middle East is quite comprehensive with scenarios that cover actions many of the signifincant actions of the various wars of Israel and also includes some ...
It has been awhile indeed since I've posted here, but the work on the Modern Wars: Volume I hasn't stopped. It did slow down over the course of a few months though, as I was tasked with working on some building/compiling data for another game. My portion of that project willl be complete on January 8th, 2012 and I can return to dedicating my free time back to Modern Wars. What's new since the last update? Middle East: The Middle East game continues to be thoroughly tested. So far the scenarios are turning out to be a lot of fun and with the final tweaks, they will ...
Time for an update on Modern Wars: Volume I. The rebuilding of the American OOB's for Vietnam is well underway. I have the platoon file mostly complete and renumbered. I have started on the company file and have worked by way through the post World War II, Korean and Pentomic organizations and have started on the ROAD. Time for an update! Middle East: The playtests have been going well. Only minor modifications to the scenarios have been required. The "Early" and "Late" graphics are working quite well, thanks to Mike and his efforts in creating additional graphics for the Egyptians. They look great! The armour weapons values of the Israeli's and Arab nations were adjusted to simulate training. Apart from a couple scenarios that deal with Jerusalem in 1948 and 1967 and some tidying up the unittext and adding some pictures, this is good to go. Vietnam: A new scenario designer joined ...
Manual writing continues. I am still working on the Combat section, which has been the longest section thus far. You'd think after playing this game for so long I'd be able to spit out the essentials quite quickly. Alas, it isn't so. I have uploaded a Scenario List for the Middle East game. A few things to note: 1. This list is not final, additional scenarios will be included - primarily dealing with the battles in and around Jerusalem in 1948 and 1967. 2. The "introductions" are in draft mode. They will be revised and sound more appealing than their ...
