Stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else.

  1. Earthquake!!!!!!

So there I was, stumbling into the kitchen at the behest of my hungry, hungry cat. It was a lazy day and I had nodded off while awaiting the arrival of some workmen (this is the summer of home improvements, apparently), so I was groggy as I made my way into the kitchen. My cat, ever famished, was insistently rubbing against my leg, demanding a dish full of food...NOW!!! So I went in the cupboard, grabbed a can of "cat fud" and was in the process of doling it out into the dish when Pfeffer, who was watching me prepare her lunch with all the intensity of a secret service agent scrutinizing ...

Boy...it's slow out there in the world of gaming. Well, not totally slow. Gaming has recently been blessed with the wonderful indie title Frozen Synaspe (it has been garnering straight 9/10s & 4/5s...I told you it was good!), and Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy has been sneaking into my playlist as well. And I am sure this week is going to be super-busy what with E3 kicking off, so stay tuned for a lot of news (fingers crossed), hopefully with some of it proving exciting enough to remind me why I am a gamer in the first place. Outside of that

    Just an amusing factoid:

After going through my Word documents, I see that over the course of 2010, I compiled and published 315 pages of gaming-related news alone. In addition to that, GameSquad also published assorted reviews, editorials, previews, interviews and other miscellanea. All told, that amounts to about 400+ pages of material! And it was a slow year!

I can't wait to see what 2011 will bring!

To everyone at GameSquad, both contributors and community members alike, thanks for making it a great ...

I never knew you could put a price on a season, but clearly you can.

This has been one of the most remarkable summers ever. So far, the New York region has endured five 90 degree plus heat waves, with a sixth heat wave underway as I write this! As I’ve written before, this is highly unusual for Long Island. If we get one – maybe two – heat waves during the course of the summer, it is remarkable. Heck, last summer never even heated up until the last week of July, and even then it didn’t break 90 degrees once. And, of course, it was all

Just a quick note before my PC suffers a ‘China Syndrome’ event and melts down to a goopy pile of slag: my presence on the Ansible network may be unpredictable this week. You see, the Northeast is suffering from a record heat wave right out of that classic Twilight Zone episode, The Midnight Sun. Over the last three days we have been in the upper 90’s, with today establishing the dubious record of breaking into the TRIPLE DIGITS! To put this in perspective, last year Long Island never broke 90 degrees once…so yeah, this is proving to be quite a surprise.
