I made a startling realization today: E3, the world's greatest gaming confab, starts tomorrow...and I just don't care. What is your earliest gaming memory? I suspect that for most boys it probably is Cowboys & Indians. Oh sure, the specific name might change according to time and place (i.e., “Cops & Robbers” or “Escape from Robot Pirate Island”), but the gameplay is the same: Team A must defeat Team B in some sort of simulated combat. You know, as a guy who usually plays the types of games that the rest of the world never hears about, I have been enjoying the big media push behind Fallout 3. At long last, I can say that I part of the crowd! From Fallout 3’s Washington Metro ad campaign, to the many commercials airing on various networks (not just G4!), it has been fun to watch a PC game garner some respect.
