Chat room usage?

Hey,

Does anyone ever drop into the chatroom? Is it even being used? :hmmm:

I usually log into the room at the top of the hour (late night mostly), activate the "beep on enter" control then open another window and surf WHQ / etc. Rarely has anyone ever dropped in even though I can "SEE" you guys are here checking out the Forum. I've been logged on for hours surfing and the result is usually the same.

Mantis came up with the idea of making the "top of the hour" a meeting time and I've run into him there more than anyone else.
Is there a set time others meet there?

I find it kind of nice to chat with fellow gamers and see what games they're playing and how they are doing. Adds a little personality to "PBEM."

I've been logging in when I first connect for the night, but the chat won't let you idle, and when I drop off, I rarely bother to reconnect since I haven't seen any signs of life in several weeks

Either:
1- no one cares to chat or
2- no one bothers to log on and keep it open long enough so that others can stumble in.

As of now I've been "logged on" for over 40 minutes and surfing WHQ. There are a number of people on but none have chimmed in.

Now I'm about done looking around and logging off.

Is there any way to put up a "chatroom occupied" note in the forum header? Might prompt others to make the effort.

I know it's a p.i.t.a., but that thread (I'm in the chatroom right now) has worked really good for me. Had quite a few people drop in upon reading the thread.

I left when noone showed up after ten minutes. I'm at work and have too many things to get done before the end of the day to spend it all in chat rooms...unless, of course, it's a gorgeous, half-dressed babe that I'm chatting with.

Somehow, I think that description doesn't apply to any of the people frequenting HQ's chat.
