I knew this went on, but I hadn't seen footage. Western international contingents march past from 6:31

I'm particularly impressed with the way they had some guys march past in authentic WWII dress.

Figures you'd look at the men wearing dresses...

OK, serious note, I like the irony of ending on Beethovens ODE TO JOY. Just another way to make Hitler turn in his grave ie German music being played at the Allied celebration 65 years later of Hitlers TOTAL and COMPLETE destruction.....

Good link.

Trev, you're 31 days too late. I posted this on May 12 from a different source! No harm, I liked it the first time.

The use of Beethoven is hardly new. They were broadcasting his 5th symphony's opening bars in 1944 as the V for victory in morse dot dot dot dash.

The other thing is that Beethoven was as a matter of record a scathing critic of Tyrants. He intended one of his great works to be dedicated to Napoleon but, on hearing* what the man was actually about, withdrew the accolade. He'd have had no more time for Hitler, Mussolini or Bush.

*what?

Wasn't Bush voted into office - twice?

Thanks Trev for the memories. I as in Red Square in April 1986. Would be cool to go back and see the changes that have taken place.
