Good Day,

The forums seems to be a little dead, so I'll start the postings with a poll. Post your vote above, and comment below.

Hi-
Good to an alternative to the ASLML and Consim world, lets hope we get alot more people on board.

This is, I think, the best kind of forum for ASL discussions. The only down side if for folks who pay per minute for their on-line use.

this forum has a nice clean format and all the functionality you need. I think this will be the #1 Forum besides the ASLML.
I got my bookmark set :D

Heh. The membership list is starting to look like a Who's Who of ASl.

Hey, pretty cool. As a web-based user (vs. e-mail), I think this format is just right. I like the folders, too. Maybe this will catch on... the good ol' ASLML has been weird lately, poor thing.

I'll have to play something worthy of an AAR. Can you say "virgin territory" on here? Moving along in "Operation Rosselsprung," so that may be the first candidate.

Paul, I like your icon. I gots to get me mine.

Either that, or a 'rogues gallery' of same...

Hi-
And with Mike Reed joining, another member of the 'rogues gallery' is added. Now all we need is Dan Dolan and the rogues gallery will be complete.

Great idea, but.... not sure I'll be able to consistently monitor both the ASLML and this Forum. I suspect one or the other will win out as the source for my ASL discussion. But I'm willing to give this Forum some time.

Hi-
This is what I like about this format, I dont have to deal with off-topic stuff like copyright laws, I already know that if I use Hasbro's tradmarked ASL format, or copy and sell scenarios on ebay, I'll be in for it. Best of all, I can ignore me!

This is a great idea!!

Let's hope that things don't get wildly out-of-hand like they can on the ASLML.

I would still prefer a mailing list, but since the ASLML has been in effect dead for the past few months, this is pretty damn good. So, what happened Paul? I had thought you were running the ASLML. I wish MMP would shut it down, otherwise you just keep getting more fragmentation of the internet community. Of course, if we all abandon it, maybe some good will come of it!

Well, it shouldn't since there is some control that the moderators and admins have in censoring topics and/or locking topics that get out of hand.

I agree that there should be one place to go for ASL-related chat. Frankly, I always thought Consimworld would be OK. You can create sub-folders on it...

Otherwise, if there's going to be a separate, ASL-exclusive place, this format is right on.

I am very happy to see this new forum in operation. I intend to post upcoming Schwerpunkt infomation here first.

I think the forum is a great idea. My only concern is people finding it. I think having an easier-to-remember more ASL-related domain name is a good step, but I think you should also get support from the official publishers (ie, a link from MMP's page). Also, you might have noticed that Avalon Hill has redesigned their web site recently, with forums almost identical to this one (though they don't have an ASL board yet). A link from Avalon Hill would also be nice. After all, the more the merrier in forum land, right?

but I think you should also get support from the official publishers (ie, a link from MMP's page).

Easier said than done. MMP's webmaster is not the quickest to update the page. MMP seems to have a nonchalant outlook when it comes to running a sleek, well maintained website. As a partner in the now defunct (today as a matter of fact) Coastal Fortress site, we requested, but never got a link in the "link" section. We did finally get a link in the "club" section, but I figure not many people see it there.
Trust me, even without "official" support, a well maintained, clean website with a great premise (in this case the forums) will be bookmarked by many. In other words, "build it and they will come".
