WARNING!!!! I forgot to mention a couple of things in the video. One, BACKUP ALL THE .DAT files before doing any database editing! You may need to restore them and also you cannot play a human opponent in PBEM if your .DAT files do not match. Second, do not rename the .DAT files, it will confuse the game engine.

This is a demonstration of the steps needed to add a rifle grenade function to the M1893 rifle in the HPS Sims Squad Battles game Spanish Civil War. It's 2:48 seconds and hopefully my voice doesn't annoy you too much.

I tried using the YouTube tag in the forum but it's not showing up in my Firefox browser, so I entered the URL as a link.

I know that the recording window wasn't widescreen enough, but otherwise what do people think of this method of doing a tutorial?

Nice video!

I'd add for those who don't know that the weapons in parentheses are usually vehicle mounted weapons. The parentheses don't actually do anything other than make it clear when scrolling through the list which weapons are for vehicles and which are not.

Good point. There are lots of little tips and tricks in using the editors and maintaining consistency of format and convention really helps.

IronX, I'm sure you have quite a lot of tips and hints to contribute with all the work you've done with your mods. Hope your efforts will inspire others to give it a try.

Video Demo #2 using the SB SCW database editor, carried by YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48P4micmfms) - This video continues the tutorial of creating a new weapon. Here we change the picture of the weapon, which is our newly created M1893 GL, to show a rifle grenade at the muzzle. The video also shows where the game engine finds the pictures to display and how to determine which picture number to use in the editor.

Video Demo #3 using the SB SCW database editor, carried by YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqfPNIyVp80) - This video concludes the tutorial of creating a new weapon. Here we update an existing OOB file to add the new M1893GL, then change the associated existing scenario to remove and then re-add the modified units. Then we start the main game engine and demonstrate the new weapon.

Finally was able to upload the last file. Let me know what I can do to improved them.

I think they are very good as they are. It would be good to see a series of these on scenario design.
