Hello to all

a 6-5-8 SS squad is under a shellhole counter; Adjacent to him, there is another hex containing shellholes. A Russian 4-4-7 concealed squad assault moves on this adjacent hex thus claiming shellhole TEM and is now under a shellhole counter; So, both now are under shellhole counters.

Between the Russian and the SS there is a wall hexside

Is there a LOS between them?

Thanks in advance
Txema

Is there a LOS between them?Yes; shellholes do not affect LOS in any way. Foxholes behind walls/hedges do affect LOS; however, there would be LOS even if they were both in foxholes as the hexes are ADJACENT to each other (walls block LOS to non-adjacent hexes when tracing LOS out of a foxhole that has the wall as one of its hexsides).

So, both now are under shellhole counters. As an aside, there is no reason to place a shellhole counter in a hex that already has a shellhole depiction. Units are never "under" a shellhole counter; they either get the TEM or they don't. Typically Infantry units may claim the TEM for shellholes unless they are moving and specify that they are not using the shellholes (i.e. not paying the COT for the Shellholes).

Oh, as we play PBEM, we use it to clarify more the hex

Thanks to all :-)

This question brought back memories. I think it was my very first question on the very first ASL Mailing List back in the early early 90s.

Shellholes are not entrenchments is the real answer.

interesting situation - there must some nasty units that can shoot either guy that they one of the would Not want to take the Wall.
