Guys, it's a great game. Also featuring several new enhancements to the game engine, some of them long asked by the community.

And specially, it's a new begining for the series!

This is going to be awesome, and the screen-shots look great. I'm going to be pre-ordering my copy today!

For those interested in this conflict, here are a few good books that I've read on the subject:

The Bear Went over the Mountain
Afghan Guerrilla Warfare (formerly The Other Side of the Mountain)
Soviet-Afghan War: How a Super Power Fought and Lost
Afghanistan The Bear Trap
The Hidden War

I'm sure there are others, and I'd love to find more if anyone has suggestions. For those not familiar with this war, the above books will give you, in my opinion, a nice base to start from.

Can't wait to get my hands on this title.

Hi All,

I am wondering if the new editors that are avaiable with this game can be used with the previous ones. Perhaps someone has heard something?

Yes they can. Just copy and paste them in the older game folders.

And I think the patches as they are rolled out will include the editors.

There is one exception - AotR will not include or be compatible with the dat editor. (Since the second half of the war in the east is likely viable scenario fodder.)

For you guys that are interested you can find a downloadable PDF copy (approx. 13 mb) of 'The Bear Went Over The Mountain' here The Bear Went Over the Mountain : Soviet Combat Tactics in Afghanistan [911 Investigations] (http://www.911investigations.net/document836.html) . It is a very interesting read.

Cheers

I hope this isn't true. I doubt that there's going to be any kind of rush to get out a new SB game in the foreseeable future, so it would be nice if they let the loyal fans have access to all the data in all the games.
