ToD and Vietnam

Quick question how come there are no Carabine versions of the M16 rifle in either ToD and Vietnam? Maybe I'm missing something.
Also DshK heavy mg looks like a maxim mg we need a revamp of some unit pictures.

XM-something or other. But it's got crap reliability.
