Things change, Dan Neely, things change. Look at the British, they were our worse enemies during centuries, and became our best allies in WW1 and WW2. At present our favorite ally is Germany, our favorite oppressor is America. Things change, this is the law of History…

Our favorite liberator is Charles De Gaulle, that’s well known.
Our favorite Americans : the Quebeckers.
Our favorite greatest American artist : Jerry Lewis.
Our Favorite 20th Century victory : Algeria War (Oh well, I’m not sure there, I’m currently asking to myself if a military victory on the ground can avoid real results in peace treaties).
Our favorite perfidious friends we love to bash : no, it’s not the Americans (stop thinking you are the center of the world), it’s the British (more particularly the English).
Our favorite other culture (i.e. the best culture after the French one) : oh yes, maybe the American culture. I hope God will pardon us.

Favorite 225 Years Old Ally : the United States !? You are kidding there, aren’t you ? You became our ally during WW1. We were alone during Revolution and Napoleon wars, or during 1870 War. One thing is sure, we were your best ally during your Independence War.
225 is the number of years waited by Lafayette before receiving honorary citizenship of the United State (July 2002).

Favorite song : “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien” (Edith Piaf).

I’m not going to make a response to each term of your list, moderation is my favorite luxury. Even if I could speak about Eurodisney or McDonalds “restaurants”, our favorite tortures.

La Palice.

Bah, you ingrates! We helped fund your conquests by taking the Louisiana Purchase off your hands for a tidy sum. Our continued trade with France was a partial cause of the War of 1812 and I think there was even talk about giving Napoleon asylum in New Orleans.

As for the war of 1870, you didn't even give us enough time to help save you. ;)

Quebeckers usually put their Quebec identity first. And secondly they are Canadian. One identity does not exclude the other, but they are of varying degrees of intensity :)

The Quebeckers are the French nation of North America, I think that's what La Palice meant by saying Quebeckers are their favorite "Americans", i.e. favorite North Americans.

Well, yes and no :)

We speak French but we have been separated for so long from France (since 1760) that we don't have that much in common culturally with the French. We are really North Americans, with a francophone culture :)
